Overview
Since August 2022, Veraset has been actively filtering its data for locations with NAICS code 62, which pertains to Healthcare. With recent actions by the FTC and other regulatory pressure, Veraset has implemented broader Sensitive Places filtering capabilities.
Since January 2024, the below list of expanded place categories have been put into effect.
Methodology
Veraset scrubs inbound US data against a set of known places associated with key NAICS codes. These locations are derived from a purchased data set from Safegraph. Safegraph is a POI data set provider and is considered one of the leading POI providers across the US.
Upon receipt of data from vendors, Veraset identifies whether a data point falls within the known boundary for the business types we are seeking to filter. The following are the NAICS codes we are filtering from our data set overall.
Veraset Sensitive Places NAICS codes:
Upon isolating data points associated with the above in our data pipeline, the data is removed from the data set in order to limit down stream exposure both internally and externally as well as meet the needs of regulators, states, or justice departments.
All products developed by Veraset use the filtered data set. We purposefully filter on a broader definition (see NAICS 62 for example) in order to ensure future state compliance.
Maintenance Frequency
Veraset updates our database of POI on a monthly basis. Any new or reclassified data as sourced and driven by Safegraph will reflect in the Veraset filtering within the next release cycle. This allows for the data filtering to be kept up to date.
